Ella Baker Center for Human Rights

Ella Baker Center for Human Rights

In the spring of 2019, I worked as a Communications Intern at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, a nonprofit in Oakland aimed at trying to “break the cycles of incarceration and poverty once and for all”. Within the Communications team, I was generally tasked with creating graphics for social media use. This entailed a lot of ideating, as I was tasked with making different graphics (with multiple variations for each) for social media use. This allowed me to be more creative, thinking outside of the box for how to make the same graphic and convey the same message in a number of ways, whether it be making graphics and drawings from scratch or doodling over existing photos within EBC. This also allowed me to learn what layouts and design compositions worked best for effectively supporting the Center’s mission and attracting an audience. Here are some of my graphics below. *All photo credits go to EBC.
