ASUC

Associated Students of the University of California

I served as a Communications Director (and former media manager) for the Office of the External Affairs Vice President (EAVP) within student government, referred to as ASUC, or the Associated Students of the University of California. Through this position, I crafted loose branding guidelines for office communications and created a number of graphics and infographics for the office, highlighting voter registration efforts (for the 2018 Midterm Election) and a number of flyers for events the office had planned. During this school year, we had a number of growing projects and events, made even more salient due to the 2018 election. Due to this, I made a multitude of logos, infographics, and promotional materials with an average turnaround time of 1-2 days. On top of this, I also helped with other miscellaneous media asks, photographing Cupcakke’s performance on campus for example. Here is some of my work below!

Go Bears Go Vote

Leading up to the November 2018 election, I collaborated with other students to implement a number of voter registration efforts under the name ‘Go Bears Go Vote’. For such a campaign, I created a number of graphics including simple slogan designs for sticker and pin printing use, infographics explaining how to register or how portions of our campaign work, etc.

‘Why I’m Voting’ Photo Series

In addition to my other graphics leading up to the 2018 Midterm Election, I helped create the ‘Why I’m Voting’ series within the office. The series was aimed at highlighting a number of staffers within the office and why they are voting—to both boost voter registration and why civic engagement is important for those who can vote. *Photos were taken by Dana Alpert, and all photo editing and graphic design elements were by me. For photos I took for the EAVP Office, check them out here.

Peek at the Week

Using information collected by various members within the office, I designed the graphics for the weekly series ‘Peek at the Week’. While not published every single week through the semester, the series aimed at summing up current events around the globe into an easily digestible graphic shared on Facebook.

UN Women — 16 Days of Activism Against Gendered Violence

I create a series of infographics in collaboration with ASUC Senator Saakshi Goel's Office in regard to the Orange the World: #HearMeToo campaign done by UN Women. While I only helped make infographics for the first few days of the series, the 16-day series in its entirety aimed at bringing attention to global violence against women.

Events, Infographics, Applications, Flyers, Misc.

Within the office, I was asked to make a number of graphics beyond the aforementioned series. Whenever the EAVP Office hosted or co-hosted any event, promoted Berkeley or UC-wide applications, wanted to explain relevant information in-depth for students, and in many more scenarios beyond this, I was tasked with creating the graphics to accompany this information. I would collaborate with the relevant staffers and go back and forth between designs to ensure that the final product properly represents the office. Additionally, I would normally create a number of different ideations in different dimensions based on what was needed (a square image versus a Facebook banner versus a Facebook event banner versus an Instagram story).

ASUC 2019 Elections

I worked as a graphic designer for CALSERVE, one of the on-campus political parties that runs for ASUC candidacy. I helped brand CALSERVE with their color scheme, fonts, and photo editing in making a number of graphics to represent CALSERVE’s candidates for a school year. I specifically made profile pictures and cover photos for social media use (primarily on Facebook), infographics of candidates’ platforms, and posters for printing for ~14 candidates, so here are a few of the graphic formats I made that I then replicated for each candidate. *Photos are not taken by me.
